Kovalainen: Career in motorsport – F1 and others

Flashback of Heikki Kovalainen, the former F1 driver who was able to win just once in Formula One back in 2008 at the Hungarian GP.

He started his career at Renault where he remained just one season – it was McLaren who signed him in 2008, year after his debut.

However, it didn’t took long for the Finn at McLaren, he spent two seasons at the British team, Jenson Button replaced him at the team in 2010.

But it didn’t end there for Kovalainen, Lotus F1 team signed him in 2010, he spent two years at the team.

In 2012 he joined Caterham team, another two seasons at the team before he retired at the end of 2013.

Kovalainen career in F1 was short, the expectation from him were high but he was unlucky partnering Hamilton at McLaren where he couldn’t match the speed of the British driver.

After F1 years he competed at Super GP, Rallying and Le Mans 24 hours.
